Kitchen Deep-Cleaning Prep: A Checklist for Your Home
4 min read
A kitchen deep clean starts before anyone picks up a cloth. A clear task list and an accessible work area help you agree what the visit will cover, which preparations belong to the household and which requests need separate assessment.
This checklist is for preparing a Singapore home for an agreed kitchen-cleaning visit. Work through it with your provider before the booking, then keep the confirmed scope available for the handover.

Name the surfaces and interiors you want cleaned
“Deep clean the kitchen” leaves too much open. List the worktops, splashback, sink, taps, cabinet fronts, cooking area and floor separately. Add the particular appliance or cupboard interiors you want assessed.
For BUTLER’s kitchen-cleaning service, tasks are included when suitable and expressly agreed in the quotation. The published scope distinguishes accessible hob and hood exteriors from selected appliance or cupboard interiors. Interiors need prior agreement and clear access.
A full-home deep clean, hood dismantling and specialist treatment require a separate scope. Describe these requests explicitly rather than treating them as automatic additions to a kitchen visit.
Send useful photos and identify the finishes
Send an overview of the kitchen and closer views of the areas that need attention. Identify the priority areas and accumulated residue. Note stone, wood, metal or other surfaces that need particular care, and keep any relevant surface or appliance care instructions available.
BUTLER’s current service page says heavy residue and delicate surfaces are assessed first. Its quotation considers kitchen size, residue and the number of agreed interiors. Photos and a specific list give the enquiry more detail than a request for a universal cleaning method.
If you do not know a material or finish, say so. Ask what information the provider needs before agreeing the method. Do not assume an old mark or damaged finish can be removed; clarify the expected result for the actual surface.
Clear the agreed work areas
BUTLER asks households to clear food and loose items from the agreed work areas. Decide where these will go before the visit, and keep them outside the cleaning area. Make any agreed appliance or cupboard interiors accessible.
Ask the provider to confirm the preparation required for each interior. If the job involves a fridge, oven or another appliance, clarify how and when it should be prepared, using the appliance manufacturer’s instructions where relevant. Do not improvise dismantling, disconnection or heavy lifting.
Flag fragile items, restricted spaces and anything that should remain untouched. If moving an item is difficult, raise it before the visit so responsibility and access can be agreed.
Confirm the practical arrangements
Give your provider the preferred date, postcode and a contact name and number. Confirm the access arrangements and any building requirements that affect the visit. Ask about any service-specific preparation and access to utilities the agreed work needs.
Review the written quotation for the scope, staffing or labour, service time, materials or equipment, total price and any applicable GST or additional charges. Raise changes before confirming the booking. Availability, price and duration come from that quotation.
If you are considering a wider reset, our room-by-room spring-cleaning scope guide helps you build a separate list for the rest of the home. Keep that list distinct from the confirmed kitchen tasks.
The checklist to keep beside your booking
- Task list: name each priority surface and any requested interior.
- Assessment details: send photos and flag residue, delicate finishes or uncertain materials.
- Separate requests: identify dismantling, specialist treatment or full-home work for assessment.
- Preparation: confirm who clears food and loose items, and how agreed interiors will be made accessible.
- Access: flag fragile items, restricted spaces and building requirements.
- Quotation: check the confirmed scope, time, staffing, equipment and total charges.
- Contact: know who can clarify the booking and receive feedback.
Review the handover against the agreed list
Keep a copy of the confirmed task list. At the handover, discuss the agreed areas and note anything that still needs clarification. If a concern arises, share the relevant detail with the service contact so it can be reviewed with the provider.
For ongoing upkeep afterwards, our cleaning-supplies checklist helps you review the household kit. The useful outcome of this preparation exercise is a kitchen booking with a defined scope, workable access and a shared understanding of what happens next.
