Duvets are available in various materials but bear in mind your budget and health conditions before making your purchase.

Types of duvets:

  • Hollowfibre duvets: The most affordable of all duvets, machine washable and some are hypoallergic. Downside: Filling might clump up together over time and lose their tog rating pretty quickly.
  • Feather and down duvets: They can retain heat which prevents your body from overheating at night. Downside: Slightly more pricey than hollow fibre and advisable to get it professionally cleaned as they can lose their filling quickly.

More often than not, when one thinks of a new bedding change, bedsheets come to mind first. It’s quite a chore picking out sheets suited to your bedroom’s design or colour; above all, choosing the right fabric makes it even more complicated. The question is, is cotton the only fabric option? It’s about time we spill the tea on the other materials and get you well-rested for a new day.

Types of Bedsheet fabric:

Cotton: The most common material of all time, for its breathable and soft fabric, making you feel like you are on cloud nine. Also considered to be the most affordable, cotton also comes in various types.

  • Cotton Jersey: If you are a fan of cotton tees, this fabric is your ultimate go-to. Downside: If you tend to sweat during the night, this linen might cause staining and traps heat, causing it to smell a little musky if not Febreezed/washed often.
  • Upland cotton: The most common type of cotton used in bedsheets and mass-sold in stores at a bargained price. Downside: Shorter fibres thus do not put your hopes high on sleeping in soft linens.


Tencel: It is a fabric made from a eucalyptus tree’s wood pulp and produced using the least amount of water and chemicals than cotton; thus, environmental enthusiasts, this is a must-buy for you. With its microbial material, no wonder its deemed to be one of the more pricey bedlinens.

Silk: If you are one who loves sleeping in silk pyjamas, this could match it up. Silk undoubtedly can get pretty costly, but if you are looking into getting the utmost luxury, this tops the charts.

Polyester: It fabricates out of polymers similar to that of plastic bottles, its raw material could come off as stiff, and itchy to touch; thus, cotton often diffusers into the polymers during production. Despite it being super breathable, it’s inadvisable to anyone who easily sweats as it might come off as stuffy.
